2024 Frontenac County budget process
Our budget is the financial expression of the priorities of our organization. Respect for the taxpayer is of major importance in budget development for the County of Frontenac. Your input is welcome and is critically important to the budgeting process.
This budget relates only to work overseen by Frontenac County Council:
- Frontenac Paramedics
- Fairmount Home
- Planning and Development
- Economic Development including the Frontenac K&P Trail
Our budget is based on the following principles:
- Transparency: Business plans, budget planning, and budgets are discussed and approved in open meetings of Frontenac County Council except as permitted according to The Municipal Act.
- Fiduciary responsibility: Council and staff develop and approve budgets that balance the short- and long-term needs of the County and its citizens. Achieving this difficult balance requires that we make best estimates, predict most likely scenarios, and evaluate apparent risks.
- Accountability: Council is ultimately accountable, within legislated limits, for the approval of business plans, budget policy, and budgets. In particular, Council is responsible to evaluate and establish service levels.
- Alignment: Projects that support and align with the strategic priorities set by Council, or as required in legislation, receive the highest priority for Council consideration.
- Citizen Input: Citizen input on matters including but not limited to strategic planning, business planning, budget development, and service level changes is welcome throughout the budgeting process.
That's where you come in. On this page are resources you can use to help shape and inform your thoughts and opinions on the budget and budgeting process. You will also find key dates, most notably the public meeting scheduled for January 18, 2023. Mark your calendars; that's your chance to present your budget ideas directly to Frontenac County Council.
Below you will find a set of tools you can use to engage with neighbours, Frontenac County Councillors, and Frontenac County staff on matters related to the 2023 Frontenac County budget. Participate in an online discussion. Share your ideas. Ask questions. It will all be submitted for consideration during Council budget deliberations.

The 2024 Frontenac County budget plan presentations to Frontenac County Council are scheduled for Tuesday October 24 and Wednesday October 25, 2024. The meetings are held from 9am both days at The Township of South Frontenac council chamber, 4432 George St. Sydenahm.

Citizen input and customer satisfaction play a key role in the County’s budget process. Citizen input on matters including but not limited to, strategic planning, business planning, budget development, and service-level changes is welcome throughout the budget process. Consultation also includes input from member municipalities.
Should you wish to make a submission to County Council such as written comments, a presentation, or report, please provide relevant materials to the County Clerk by September 14, 2023 for inclusion in the agenda.
Citizens, business operators, and other Frontenac stakeholders are invited to attend Council either in person or via virtual electronic participation.

You will receive a confirmation email after successful registration. Registration will close at the start of the meeting.
If you prefer to call into the meeting, please contact the Clerk’s Office at 613-548-9400 ext. 302 for call-in information. Registration to call into the meeting will close the day prior.
All members of the public who register for the meeting will have an opportunity to speak.

Notice of collection: Personal information collected as a result of this public meeting is collected under the authority of the Municipal Act, the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA), the Planning Act, and all other relevant legislation, and will be used to assist in making a decision on this matter. All personal information (as defined by MFIPPA), including (but not limited to) names, addresses, opinions and comments collected will be made available for public disclosure to members of the public, at the meeting, through requests, and through the website of the Corporation of the County of Frontenac.
