The Moreland Dixon Culvert is located on Moreland Dixon Road at the north end of Collins Lake approximately 1.5km East of Perth Road. The existing multiplate culvert has a width of 2.8m, a height of 2.0m and a length of 32m. It is also located at a depth of 5.5m to the bottom of the pipe.
The existing culvert has experienced structural failure and is believed to have been installed prior to the 1990’s when Moreland Dixon Road was last reconstructed.
This culvert is currently in a stable condition and has required ongoing maintenance since March when the failure was first observed.
Work currently includes:
Excavation to expose the existing structure
Demolition of the existing structure
Installation of a new 2.4m diameter polymer laminated corrugated steel pipe
Backfill of new culvert
Reinstatement of pavement and installation of new guiderails
This replacement will offer a life expectancy of 50 years and aligns with the recommendations within the Asset Management Plan.
This project is categorized as “Exempt” under the 2024 Municipal Class Environmental Assessment process and is considered a pre-approved construction project under the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act.
Further information on the selected contractor and start dates will be provided on this web page. Notices will also be issued to properties in immediate proximity of the project.
