In early 2023, Township staff worked on a five-year capital plan for hard-surfaced roads driven by the results of the 2022 WSP Golder Roads Study. The five-year plan includes $36.1 million in hard-surfaced road investments through to the end of 2027. As part of the five-year capital plan adopted by Council, Craig Road is scheduled to be reconstructed in 2025 (upon approval of Council). In 2024, Council approved the Pre-Engineering Roads 2025 budget, which includes the preliminary design for the reconstruction of Craig Road.

Map of Roadway:

Craig Road from Road 38 to Central Frontenac Boundary (3.8km)

Road improvement investigation will include:

  • Review of existing road geometry.
  • Reduced roadside hazards i.e. tree removal and rock excavation
  • Roadside drainage improvements.
  • Roadway and entrance culvert replacements.
  • Review the K&P Trail intersection at Craig Road with the County of Frontenac.
  • Residents to assist Township with locating well caps and septic system within 15m (49 ft) from the centerline of Craig Road.

This work is categorized as an “Exempt” project under the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment process and is considered a pre-approved construction project under the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act.

Key Information:

As part of the process, well caps, fences, septic systems, landscaping features, flowers, fencing, or other physical objects located in the Township road allowance in front of your property may need to be reviewed before construction to avoid damage. Landowners will be individually contacted where concerns are found. We recommend residents to reach out to Township staff to arrange individual site meetings as early as possible. Please email: pwsupport@southfrontenac.net

Stay in the Know:

Residents within the work zone and surrounding areas are encouraged to subscribe or follow this project online to stay up to date on the progress.

Other options include reaching out by phone or email with contact information for your property. This will help the Township keep you informed as the project continues. Email addresses can be used to push information updates to residents, however individual addresses will not be shared for any other purpose.
