The Township is moving forward with new sidewalks in Battersea to make the area more safe for pedestrians, improve access to village amenities, and beautify the area.
Key information
Work will begin on Monday, August 21, 2023 and will take 4-5 weeks until the end of September.
The new sidewalks will run from Battersea Ball Park to Mill Street (approx. 250 metres)
Work will typically be done between the hours of 7 am and 7 pm, Monday to Friday (if weekend work is required, we'll notify area residents)
The road will be accessible at all times with one lane open. Expect traffic delays.
The project includes the following activities and improvements:
Site preparation, earth excavation and grading, potential rock excavation and granular placement and compaction
Concrete forming and pouring for sidewalk installation
Reinstate driveway and walkway connections
Site restoration with new topsoil and sod, and final clean up of the job site
This work is categorized as a Schedule “A” project under the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment process and is considered a pre-approved construction project under the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act.
Thanks for your cooperation as we work to improve our roads and hamlets in South Frontenac!
