Our budget is the financial expression of the priorities of our organization. Respect for the taxpayer is of major importance in budget development for the County of Frontenac. Your input is welcome and is critically important to the budgeting process.

This budget relates only to work overseen by Frontenac County Council:

  1. Frontenac Paramedics
  2. Fairmount Home
  3. Planning and Development
  4. Economic Development including the Frontenac K&P Trail

Our budget is based on the following principles:

  • Transparency: Business plans, budget planning, and budgets are discussed and approved in open meetings of Frontenac County Council except as permitted according to The Municipal Act.
  • Fiduciary responsibility: Council and staff develop and approve budgets that balance the short- and long-term needs of the County and its citizens. Achieving this difficult balance requires that we make best estimates, predict most likely scenarios, and evaluate apparent risks.
  • Accountability: Council is ultimately accountable, within legislated limits, for the approval of business plans, budget policy, and budgets. In particular, Council is responsible to evaluate and establish service levels.
  • Alignment: Projects that support and align with the strategic priorities set by Council, or as required in legislation, receive the highest priority for Council consideration.
  • Citizen Input: Citizen input on matters including but not limited to strategic planning, business planning, budget development, and service level changes is welcome throughout the budgeting process.

  • Share Wolfe Island NEEDS an ambulance and crew stationed on the island. The current model of having to wait for the ferry to transport paramedic assistance to the island is unacceptable. The island-based ambulance could reach most island patients and provide prompt response within 15 or 20 minutes, but this timing can increase to as much as an hour or more when the ambulance has to come from Kingston. This risks the medical well-being and even lives of island residents. It also severely hampers the only way for others to get on or off the island when an ambulance call is received and the ferry's schedule is hijacked by the ambulance and potentially impacted for hours. Why does the County refuse to provide acceptable ambulance services to Wolfe Island? on Facebook Share Wolfe Island NEEDS an ambulance and crew stationed on the island.
