Have your say on Shipping Containers

Shipping containers are a container with strength suitable to withstand shipment, storage and handling. Shipping containers include large reusable steel boxes used for intermodal shipments and includes a sea can. They are becoming more popular as an option for storage as they are less expensive than traditional storage structures and are easily accessible.

Council is looking at options to regulate them within the Township. These regulation would not apply to a shipping container being used for any type of habitation (i.e. dwelling, sleep cabin, etc.) as these would need to comply with the Ontario Building Code requirements including engineering, air quality reports, permanent foundation, etc.

North Frontenac's Council is interested in hearing the community's thoughts regarding Shipping Containers in the Township. Please provide your feedback by taking the survey found at the bottom of this page and leave additional comments in the Forum.

The survey results and forum comments will be compiled and provided to Council at their Special Meeting on August 12, 2022.
