Fish Creek Bridge

Fish Creek Bridge (Bobs Lake Road)

The Fish Creek bridge is a single lane bridge currently located on Bob’s Lake Road just south of the intersection of Fish Creek Road. This concrete structure has a deck width of 5.2m and currently spans a distance of 6.7m over a navigable waterway connecting to Bobs Lake. The crossing also has posted load restrictions which limit the weight of vehicles that are able to use the crossing. Available records suggest that this bridge was constructed around 1927 and is nearing the end of its useful service life.

The Township has initiated studies to evaluate the condition of the bridge and is evaluating possible strategies for replacement.

Key considerations for the project include the following:

• Improve level of service to support a new two-way vehicle crossing
• Upgrade guide rail systems to meet current roadside safety standards
• Structural designs that will support removal of posted load restrictions
• Preservation of the navigable opening on Fish Creek to allow continued movement of small boats and watercraft

This project is being planned as a Schedule B project under the 2023 Municipal Class Environmental Assessment process as prescribed under the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act. All replacement options will consider social, environmental and economic impacts.

A Public Information Meeting will be held in the future to provide more information and solicit feedback on the project. Details and dates will be advertised once available.
