Alectra has requested that the proposed Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project be put on hold. Specifically, the consideration of the option-to-lease agreement and the municipal support resolution be delayed. Therefore; Council will not be making a decision at tomorrow’s Council Meeting. We will share any updates through the Township’s social media, website and by email through the contact list.
Alectra advises “Our team appreciates the interest and dialogue developed with the local community regarding the proposed BESS project; feedback that we value and listen to. As we continue to review feedback, we do require additional time to work through it. Consequently, I am writing to request that the consideration of the option to lease agreement and municipal support resolution regarding the proposed BESS project be put on hold. We will assess future opportunities in subsequent submission windows for this project, as appropriate. We sincerely thank the community, staff, and council for their on-going engagement throughout this process.”
