2026 Budget
We are starting to prepare the Township’s 2026 budget. The budget is more than just dollars and cents – it impacts you through the programs and services you receive and is considered to be one of the Township's most important strategic documents, serving as a guide for everything that we do. Each time you enjoy a local park or beach, have your garbage collected, or use a recently plowed or repaired road, you are seeing your tax dollars at work.
It is South Frontenac's goal to provide a balance of services that improve the quality of life for all our residents, while also ensuring we have the organizational capacity to deliver cost-effective services in a changing world.
January 22, 2026:
Following the conclusion of the 2026 Budget meeting today, the Budget has been deemed adopted. The approved budget represents a 3.52% increase in the average taxpayer impact on the Township levy. Your full tax bill is a combination of the Township levy, the County rate and the education rate (set by the Province). The full approved budget can be viewed from within the 'Documents' section.
Highlights:
Total budget expenditures: $56,380,789
Operating budget: $30,967,627
Capital budget: $25,413,162
Average taxes (Township share) for average property assessment of $278,126: $1,906.26
Represents: Annual increase of $64.80 (compared to 2025).
January 13, 2026:
The draft of the 2026 budget was presented to Council on December 9, 2025. The presentation and the draft summary are available within the 'Documents' section.
December 8, 2025:
The results of the Budget Survey were presented to council on Tuesday, December 2.
Key Insights from Survey:
- 40.45% of responses prefer a reasonable increase to property taxes to enhance services, followed by 32.70% of people saying increase enough only to maintain services for a total of 73.15% (2025 –77.24%; 2024 –69.5%; 2023 –77.9%)
- 77.11% defined a reasonable increase as 1-2.9%
- Fire Services and Road Maintenance continue to be cited as most important day-to-day operations.
- Emergency preparedness and roads capital projects were cited as most important capital items for budget considerations.
