Consultation has concluded
Earlier this year, Council approved the 2022 Municipal Budget which included funding for the reconstruction of 3.7 km of Lower Round Lake Road. Lower Round Lake Road serves a large residential area of the Township and acts as one of the key public access points for boat access to Loughborough Lake. This road was last reconstructed over 25 years ago and is now considered to be at the end of its’ useful service life.
The reconstruction project which covers the full length of the public road will include the following activities and improvements:
pulverizing the existing road surface as part of the new road base
placement of new granular base materials for a stronger road base to meet current and proposed traffic needs
clearing and grubbing along roadside
ditching improvements will be carried out for improved road drainage
driveway culvert and roadway culvert replacements
minor utility pole relocations
minor rock removals to address roadside hazards at designated locations
wider travel lanes and a new double surface treatment (tar and chip)
The Lower Round Lake Road project is categorized as a Schedule “A” project under the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment process and is considered a pre-approved construction project under the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act. Construction activities will be led by Township forces and works are expected to commence in early June 2022.
The project is expected to take 10 to 12 weeks, with completion anticipated in late August 2022.
