K&P Rehabilitation Update: Trail Closure Oct 5 - Nov 6
Work is moving forward on the next phase of K&P Trail rehabilitation between Snow Road Station and Wilbur in North Frontenac, with construction scheduled to begin the week of October 5, 2026.
To allow the work to be completed safely and efficiently, a section of the K&P Trail between Snow Road Station and Lavant Station will be closed from October 5 to November 6, 2026.
During the closure, trail users will be directed around the construction area using Road 509 and South Lavant Road, reconnecting with the K&P Trail at Lavant Station. Please follow posted detour signs and use additional caution while travelling on the road sections of the detour.
The rehabilitation work will improve the trail surface, drainage and overall condition of this section of the K&P Trail. It will also help address a critical infrastructure gap identified through the Eastern Ontario Rail Trail Loop Market Readiness Assessment, improving continuity along the broader regional trail network and supporting the long-term development of the Eastern Ontario Rail Trail Loop as a market-ready tourism experience.
The project also advances the County’s long-term objective of completing a high-quality north-south trail connection through Frontenac County and strengthening connections between the K&P Trail and neighbouring regional trail systems. The County’s Trail Management Plan identifies the K&P Trail as a primary off-road “spine” connecting Frontenac communities and the wider Eastern Ontario trail network.
