Procedural By-law Review
The County of Frontenac is reviewing its Procedural By-law, which governs how Council, and its Committee meetings are conducted to ensure transparency, accountability, and effectiveness in decision-making.
The Governance Review Committee is in the process of undertaking a review of the By-law, which received a comprehensive review in 2022, with public input. Through this review, we hope to:
- Improve the meeting experience for all attendees, including the public, delegates, and Council Members;
- Ensure decision making is efficient;
- Reflect the changing demographics within the County; and
- Account for changes in technology
We are seeking community feedback to be considered as a part of the By-law review. Results from the community engagement will be considered alongside an analysis of best practices and guided by the expertise of municipal staff with the goals of:
- Creating effective and efficient meetings that work for the County of Frontenac; and
- Providing clarity and ease of participation for the public
The Governance Review Committee has made a number of proposed amendments to the by-law through 3 meetings over the past 6 months. We invite residents to review the proposed amended Procedural By-law and share their comments and suggestions. Your input is important in helping us shape the future of Council's processes.
